Española :: (Hood)

This formation is located to about 45 minutes of long walk from the disembarkation in the Suarez Point.

This formation that allows the passage of the waves of the sea in a small crack, causing that the pressure makes raise the water in form of spurt in more than 20 meters of the height, the water of sea of this spurt arrives at almost all the island (depending on the wind direction). It is indicated that they exist few formation in the world of this type. Near this rocky formation mainly, piqueros nest, masked, and is zone of feeding of iguanas. This rocky point of land sustains one of the most impressive and varied colonies of sea birds in the Galapagos. Along its southern shore, high cliffs rise up from the sea for a spectacular view of soaring birds and the famous blowhole. You'll meet a multitude of blue footed boobies and masked boobies protecting eggs and young chicks. So awkward on land, the waved Albatros perform a strange courtship ritual.

Notes: Bring bathing suit, towel, snorkeling equipment Located on the Northeastern portion of Espanola facing Gardner Islet, we find a good spot for swimming and snorkeling. On shore, we walk along the brilliant white sand beach. This site is favored by sea turtles for nesting, sea lions for snoozing and visitors for taking long peaceful walks.
